UGC Scheme of Coaching for entry in Services for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Minorities
In order to prepare students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Minorities to get gainful employment in Central and other services, the UGC sponsors the scheme of free Coaching Classes for entry in services for SC/ST /OBC(Non-Creamy layer) and Minorities .
MD College was privileged to start the coaching programme under this scheme in the academic year 2010-2011.The coaching classes were conducted from August 2010 to February 2011 in the College premises on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. About 25 students belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Minorities and economically weaker sections as well as large number of students belonging to the general category enrolled and benefited from these classes. The coaching classes focused on the competitive examinations conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). Efforts were made to develop a good infrastructure and library for the same. Mr.Santosh Rokde, Section Officer, Mantralaya, Government of Maharashtra, Prof.Meenal Mapuskar, Dept. of Political Science, Kirti College and faculty in Career Foundation, Ms.Prachee Phadke, visiting faculty for BMM in various colleges of Mumbai University and Prof. Monika Verma, Dept. of Political Science, MD College were some of the resource persons for the coaching classes.
Admission for the Coaching for entry in services (U.P.S.C., M.P.S.C., Banking sector etc.) for SC/ST /OBC (Non-Creamy layer) and Minorities for the year 2011-2012 is open till August 31, 2011. Candidates belonging to the General category may also apply.
